The Town of Monument is a statutory town situated at the base of the Rampart Range in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. Monument is bordered by Pike National Forest on the west, Colorado Springs and the United States Air Force Academy to the south, foothills and rock outcroppings to the north, and rolling plains to the east. Monument was first settled as a stop along the Rio Grande Railroad in 1872, and the area was incorporated as a town called Henry's Station in 1879, but the name was later changed to Monument. The town population was 5,530 at the 2010 United States Census, an increase of 181% from the population of 1971 in 2000.
Palmer Lake is it's own city as well, it was founded in 1871 and incorporated in 1889. Downtown Palmer Lake, though small, features cozy restaurants such as O'Malleys Steakhouse and Pub, a library, town hall, and historical museum. Palmer Lake is also a sought after destination for home buyers, featuring some large lots, and a very distinct and unique feel.
The Tri-Lakes public school system- Palmer School District 38- has received numerous accolades and has tested as one of the best public school districts in the entire State.
Monument has gained a lot of popularity over the last 10 years due to the charming Historic Downtown Monument, fantastic School District, homes situated on large lots, and equestrian-friendly communities. Over recent years, Monument has also seen a strong influx of Denver home-buyers that want to take advantage of the reasonable commute to the Denver Tech Center (about 45 minutes) and the wonderful local amenities.

Palmer Lake
Palmer Lake is a Statutory Town in El Paso County. The population was 2,420 at the 2010 census. Palmer Lake was founded by General William Jackson Palmer in 1871 and was incorporated in 1889.
Palmer Lake is one of three communities in the Tri-Lakes region between Denver and Colorado Springs. The three lakes are Palmer Lake, Monument Lake, and Lake Woodmoor. Located off Interstate 25, near two major metropolitan centers, Palmer Lake is a growing community on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
Downtown Palmer Lake, though small, features many cozy, locally owned restaurants overlooking the lake. Visitors can also enjoy a coffee shop, ice cream parlor, antique shopping, boutiques, and art galleries. The nearby library, town hall, and historical museum are often bustling with events such as the Yule Log Christmas, the annual Chili Supper and Star lighting, and the spring Easter egg hunt and pancake breakfast.
